We would like to invite you to the Paul Murphy National Classic. This 2 day tournament is an event for boxers of ALL AGES. The winners of each open class division(s) will win a Title belt! The winners of the open division must return to the next Paul Murphy National Classic to defend their belt. All participants will have an opportunity to win trophies/ medals and other door prizes. Don’t miss your chance to win a BELT! Please read through the packet and return all forms by the dates listed.

Sanction- Tournament held under the Georgia Amateur Boxing Association

Awards: Trophies and medallions will be awarded in all age levels.

Note: One Title Belt per open division, meaning there is only one person that can be awarded a title belt per division. The runner up receives a trophy





Class information:
• Division & Age
• Open Age: 17 – 34 years
• Novice Age: 17 – 34 years (0 to 10 bouts)
• Senior Age: 15 – 16 years
• Intermediate Age: 13 – 14 years
• Junior Age: 11 – 13 years
• Bantam Age: 8 – 10 years (all bantams welcome)

Weight Classes:
• Open and Novice weight classes: 106, 112, 119, 125, 141, 152, 165, 178, 201 + Sup. Hvy.
• Senior, Intermediate, and Junior weight classes: 80, 85, 90, 95, 101, 106,114, 119, 125,132, 138, 145, 154, 165, 176, 189, 201, 201 + lbs.
• Bantam weight classes: Any beginning weight with five pound increments.

• Seed Boxers – Open boxers rated in the top ten of the United States Amateur Boxing Ratings will be SEEDED in the tournament prior to the DRAW.

• Drawing and Bracketing – Head coaches only will be allowed in the drawing and bracketing session of the coaches meeting – No Exceptions.

Entry Information:
Entry Fee – for each contestant is $6.00. Any entries received after September 30, will be $10.00, Make Money Orders payable to: Doraville Boxing Gym. Entry Fees are non-refundable!

Invitation/Entry Limitations – Participation in this tournament is by invitation only. All invitations are extended to the team coaches. The coach is required to be a United States Amateur Boxing certified coach, duly registered in his respective United States Amateur Boxing Association. Female weight class in accordance with USA Boxing rules.

Equipment and Apparel:
• Mouthpiece – All boxers are required to wear individually fitted mouthpiece. Referees shall disqualify boxers who enter the ring with anything other than a fitted mouthpiece.
• Headgear and Boxing Gloves - USA Boxing approved competitive headgear and thumb-attached gloves are mandatory for all contestants. USA approved no-foul protectors are required for all male boxers.
• Boxing Shirts – Boxers are required to wear a boxing shirt (sleeveless) while competing in the tournament.

Fair Admission & Parking:
• Free Complimentary Parking

Grooming: Boxers must be CLEAN SHAVEN before the weigh-ins and tournament. A neatly trimmed mustache is permissible. Hair must be cut in such a manner as not to interfere with the vision of the boxer. Sideburns are not permitted to extend below the earlobe. Boxers who do not report to the weigh-ins groomed as required will be denied permission to weigh-ins.

Medical:
• Medical Authorization Forms – Coaches are responsible for bringing a signed and notarized medical treatment authorization form for each boxer under the age of 18 years (included in this packet). Coaches are required to keep these treatment forms on site at all times during the tournament for quick availability.







Officials:
• Boxing officials, judges, referees, and timekeepers are invited to officiate at this tournament. Official’s registration application must include their United States Amateur Boxing registration number. We encourage all cities to bring volunteer timers, judges, and referees.
• Referees, judges, and timekeepers in all sanctioned United States Amateur Boxing competitions shall be dressed in a white shirt, black trousers, and boxing shoes without heels. Judges and officials must have current certificates in their possession for 2009.


Team Representation – Boxers shall be required to represent the club in which they are registered. Each club will be permitted to enter a maximum of 60 boxers.

United States Amateur Boxing Passbooks - All boxers are required to present their United States Amateur Boxing Passbook prior to being permitted to weigh-in on (Date). Boxers will NOT be permitted to register for United States Amateur Boxing Passbooks at weigh-ins. United States Amateur Boxing Passbooks must be secured in the boxer’s United States Amateur Boxing Association district. There will be no exceptions made!

The Paul Murphy National Classic sponsered by Title Boxing is hosting a Boxing Tournament on November 6, 2009 – November 8, 2009. We invite you, your boxers, and your club to compete in this tournament.

Important information about the tournament and entry form is enclosed. Please duplicate as needed. Read this information thoroughly, many areas have been updated with information that may affect your participation.

Applications for official(s) willing to assist with the competition are also enclosed.

Also enclosed is a list of hotels in the area that have partnered with Title Boxing to offer rooms at discounted rates.

A form to order the Paul Murphy National Classic tickets at a discounted rate is enclosed for others who plan to come with you. This form may be duplicated.
